Brighton 28/03/12
Hi! I've just got back from my university interview in Brighton. Just thought I'd share some photos I took of an area called The Lanes in Brighton town, where all the vintage shops are and a cool garden my Mum and I found. It was such a sunny day, I saw lots of burnt faced people! My interview went well, I'll let you know if I get in:)
The Lanes
A fabric shop I might be visiting alot! So much fabric in there, but it was a little expensive, so no buys today.
This shop caught my eye straight away, I loved all the cartoons showing the Alice in Wonderland story, so playful and cute.
One of the many vintage shops. The top photo is a section of the window display, I really liked the old telephones, love the colours. Its full of crammed rails to rummage through and has really nice knitwear and satin dressing gowns. I really like the left 3 dresses in the middle picture, the colours and shapes are lovely and are what I usually go for with my clothing.
The university
The campus I'll hopefully go to, I'll be with the textiles students as well as the fashion students but also with artists and photographers so hopefully I can do some collaborations and joint projects :)
The Garden
Lots of grass gardens perfect for summer picnics.
The outfit I chose, It was hot so I brought out the maxi dress! Ignore my squinting eyes, just couldn't get away from the sun.
The pier
A quick picture from the car, You cant see it well but it's the Brighton pier!

Julia looking all Vintage!
I styled my sister at the weekend in my clothing, we were bored and since we were little we have always played dress up but now it's using my dressing up box! She doesn't go for this cute, tea party, vintage look normally, so it was fun to see her dressed like me :) The dress, bag, necklace and belt are all vintage, which I came across when doing my weekly charity shopping.
I love how elegant she looks and I think she looks as cute as a button! :)

Today I'm Wearing......
My new cardigan that I brought for only £4!! It was from a charity shop, along with my dress :). I went for the shocking teal tights, purely because I ran out of black tights! But I also like them with the purple in the cardigan...
My beautiful bag that I now can't live without! Even though it's small, I manage to fit everything in for college :)
I'll be posting my favourite shows from London and Milan shortly, so check back later this week!

SUEDE+SCALLOPED=70'S
My sister Helen has kindly modelled my first ever post for me!!…At the weekend I styled her in a vintage brown suede skirt, which is very on trend due to it being suede and the scalloped edged hem, with an embroided blouse. Most of my clothing I have sourced from charity shops, as I love that the pieces have had a life and been worn. This blouse I bought from my local charity shop and it was only £2.99 so I HAD to buy it.
The look has a late 60′s/70′s vibe to it, probably due to her GORGEOUS long blonde hair! With this blouse a long leather skirt would look great, one that finishes mid-calf, also with a floppy large hat, YSL style!….

I think that the scalloped edge came into fashion due to the 70′s/vintage styles that came into fashion a few seasons ago, the 70′s started with chloe’s A/W 2010-11 collection I think. This collection for me screams 70's, from the beige shades to the turtle necks. 70's silhouettes are prominent still in Fashion, but it's developed into the geek chic/androgynous trends. I currently LOVE the embellished beaded collared shirts paired with high waisted shorts as seen at New York Fashion Week s/s 2012 by Jason Wu.

For my Autumn/Winter wardrobe I'm going to try and incorporate this look, but do a smart cashmere jumper over an embroided collared blouse as it still remains that Vintage feel, and will keep my warmer for the chilly months!
Hoped you enjoyed my post,
Till next time keep hunting for those great Vintage bargains,
Kate xxxx
